Personality profiling – good or bad, helpful or not?
Why ask?
“70% of human behaviour is determined by your environment” – a finding of a mega research piece and cited often by top team performance coach Owen Eastwood
As he said in a recent episode of the podcast East Sleep Work Repeat certain situations will bring out different sides to his character.
And I agree. Generally I’m pretty out there, the opposite to a wallflower and ultra social and bubbly ? Put me in an environment where I feel I can’t contribute, eg no knowledge, and I’m the complete opposite.
Our clients often combine their Raising the Baa’s outdoor based programme with a profiling workshop using their preferred tool eg Discovery Insights, Strengths, MBTI, etc.
And we have our own (light touch, certainly not scientifically based) personality quiz ‘Sheep Shepherd or Dog – which one are ewe?’ which we can weave in to your off-site if desired.
I’ve read a fair amount of Owen’s work recently and it’s certainly got me thinking about the usefulness of character profiling.
Would love to know your experience and thoughts – the good, bad and ugly.
